Pola Riojas Obituary

Pola “Tia” Riojas, age 66, of Orange, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Funeral services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM and the visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM until the service time.

Pola was born on April 20, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas to her parents, Estafana (Garza) and Ignacio Riojas. Pola was a longtime resident of Orange, Texas after moving from Laredo, Texas over 40 years ago. Pola was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. “Tia” was known to have a fun personality, a strong, loving spirit, and to be an excellent cook who was famous for her breakfast. She enjoyed being outdoors, and sitting on the porch was one of her favorite past times. Tia was a very direct, caring and loving person who would literally do anything for anyone. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, as her two sons and grandchildren were the light of her life and she was very close to her brothers and sister. She loved to argue and joke with her sister about how she was always right. Thank God for sisters! Her nieces and nephews also held a very special place in her heart, as she treated them as if they were her own children. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

Pola is preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio and Estafana Riojas, as well as her brothers, Ignacio Riojas, Jr. and Magdaleno Riojas.

Pola is survived by her children, Carlos Riojas (and his children Madison and Justin Kennedy) and Jessie Riojas (and his wife Aaron and their children Connor and Alex Riojas); Her siblings, Linda Tays (and her husband Francisco Tays), Pablo Riojas, and Ruban Riojas; Her nieces and nephews: Cynthia Briscoe (and her husband Mitch and their children Blake Casey, Victoria Briscoe, and Adam Briscoe); Frankie Tays (and his wife Eryn and their children Marlee Hernandez, Bryson Lucas, and Briggs Lucas); Leno Huerta; Christina Weber; Pablo Riojas, Jr, Richard Riojas, Michael Barrera, Lisa Marie Riojas, Andrew Riojas, and Victoria Riojas; Her aunt Mary Morgan (and her husband and family), as well as many other close family members and friends.

The family would like to express a very special Thank You to Pola’s lifelong friend, Elsa Reyes, as well as, George and Dora Tays and family.
