Robert "Bob" Long Obituary

Robert “Bob” Steven Long, age 90 of Deweyville, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at his home. A private memorial service to honor Bob’s life will be held at a later date.

Bob was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 19, 1929 to Vivian Carnes Long and Steven P. Long. He served in the United States Air Force as a private during the Korean War. Bob married his sweetheart, Ann Lucy Lawley in 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi and the couple moved to the Southeast Texas area in the late 60’s. He worked as a machinist in the shipyard industry and retired from Livingston Shipyard. Bob was one of those people that could just do anything he set his mind to, whether it was being an ac technician, a carpenter or just telling someone how to fix something. Bob had a wonderful sense of humor and loved his family. He was very independent till the end.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Lucy Long, son Ronald Long, Sr., parents Steven and Vivian Long, his brother George Long and his sister Ida Otwell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Debra Dotson of Vidor, TX, Bobbie Sue Fernon and her husband John of Orange, TX and Sandra Wolfford and her husband Dennis of Orange, TX, sister Katherine Cobb of Gardendale, AL, sister-in-law Carolyn Long of Buris, LA, eight grandchildren: Brandy Lane and her husband Brian, Sonya Fuselier and her husband Tommy, Skylar Murphy , Amber Rider and her husband Brandon, Chassidy Jones and her husband Joey, Crystal Eddins, Sunshine Janise and her husband Quentin and Stevie Long and his wife Dawn, twenty three great grandchildren and four great grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
