Thurman “Wimpy” Trussell, age 69 of Orange, Texas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. A memorial service to honor Thurman’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Thurman was born on September 26, 1950 in Orange, Texas. He was one of three children of Anne Dotterweich Trussell and Mack McClelland Trussell. Thurman proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his dedicated service and sacrifice to his country. Thurman’s love for fishing and hunting was evident, but it was his love of his grandchildren that was the deepest. He enjoyed his four legged companion and best friend “Shorty” and was willing to cook for him before anyone else. Thurman also loved making and drinking homemade wine.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Karen Ocraman and Selma Stuckey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Joseph Trussell of Deweyville, TX; Josh Biscamp of Kirbyville, TX; Tammy Kyzar of Orange, TX; Crystil Biscamp of Deweyville, TX; Barbara Sarasua of Chesapeake, VA; and Aubrey Free and her husband Greg of Buna, TX. Also nine grandchildren: Karli Kyzar, Katy Swearingen, Shannon Faulkner, Heather Biscamp, Hannah Biscamp, Kegon Biscamp, Aaliyah Scott, Christopher Free and Adam Free, and several great grandchildren.
