Merlyn Darrell Holland, 72, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 18, 2017. 

Merlyn was born on Saturday, August 25, 1945, in Silsbee, Texas, to parents Juanita Walterine (Headrick) and Prentice George Holland.  Even from a young age, Merlyn was a very hard worker and a true cowboy.  Any job that needed to be done, whether it was plowing fields or breaking horses, Merlyn was always ready to work.  For over 40 years, Merlyn worked in the oil field, and worked most recently for Anadarko: Premier Oil and Gas, before retiring. 

Preceding Merlyn in death are his parents and his sister, Pearce Josephine (Holland) Manning.

Those who will cherish Merlyn’s memory most is his loving wife of 43 years, Charlotte (Schoolcraft) Holland; sons, Charles Jacob Holland of Mauriceville, Texas, and Cole Berg Holland- Kimmel and his spouse, Nathaniel Kimmel, of Orange, Texas; brother, John Orville Holland and his wife, Nancy, of Hamlin, Texas; grandchildren, Charlee Nicole (Holland) Hughes and her husband, Anders, and Charles Kyler Holland; great-grandchild, Xander Hughes; and numerous nieces, nephews, and members of extended family.

Service arrangements are currently pending with Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home, in Hamlin, Texas; local arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
